Those who know me personally, know I’m a huge fan of the “Brazillian Blow-Out” and the famous “Chi Enviro” treatments. But since these treatments are very time-consuming and can cost you up to 300 bucks, me and Stijn started researching a cheaper alternative.
So when he hit me up with an at-home keratin treatment I was all ears. When he said it was under 50 bucks and wanted me to test it out, I was all in. And since seeing is believing, we taped the whole thing :
- Wet your hair and apply the Salt Free shampoo (step 1) and wash your hair as usual. But make sure to let the shampoo sit for a good 7 minutes to make sure all previous build-up from e.g stylingproducts are removed. Leaving the shampoo on like this also makes sure all hair shafts are open to absorb the keratin.
- When the hair is rinsed out thoroughly, apply the KHS moisturizing system (step 2), work it in with your hands. Focuss the most product on the area that is the most damaged. In my case … my ends. Keep working the product in and comb through with a wide-tooth comb. Keep doing this until there are no more tangles. IMPORTANT : Do not rinse this step out.
- After step 2, apply 1/2 of the KHS moisturising system (step 3) directly over the top of step 2. The remaining 2/2 of step 3 you can use to work through the lenghts of your hair. Leave to develop for at least 20 minutes. While the product is developing it will harden a bit and basically make your hair feel like cardboard. This is normal. Afterwards just rinse out and style like usual.
The KHS keratin hair system comes in 3 variations : a blue version to restore moisture, a red version for damaged hair and a purple version that straightens your hair for a couple of months. I used the blue version to restore moisture since my natural hair is very dry and tends to frizz. Afterwards my hair was way easier to blowdry straight. Also my hair felt properly moisturized and the effect lasted almost 8 weeks. And for the price of €40,- it’s a nice “extra” to do instead of your regular deep conditioner pack.
